last message

i read this article while looking into integral theory.  it really struck accord for my self after absorbing it.

to put things into context, all the stress and pressure that i have placed on myself to achieve what i have achieved - only stemmed from my self.  its not bad to have high expectations - but we choose in what way we wish to respond to these challenges - and this will determine what person we hope to become.  the only problems we have, are the ones we choose for ourselves, no matter what the circumstances.  I hope throughout my career i don't let my my reasoned thoughts escape and start to suffer from the pressure of a demanding and hectic career.

reflecting back

reflecting back on the semester's process, i am extremely pleased with the journey i have experienced.  week 10 can be seen as a 'highlight' now that i can look back at what i have achieved.  this is because, after presenting my initial design to my tutor, which i intended to pursue - i was informed that it didn't provide any spacial qualities and it was a bit too abstract.  this threw a pickle in my design evolution, but challenged me to revisit this element and the many elements it altered in a chain reaction.  a design can be altered 100s of times, to sit within any required justification.  however, smart design i believe is established by refining your design process approach to the appropriate design challenge   i have discovered and learnt a lot this semester which will add to my process evolution - which will continue to grown and richen.

clarification of design elements

the drawings below have been quickly altered to show the angles at which the perspectives were taken at in the plan views.  In my final presentation the 3D pers were presented in a sketch pencil look and extra images placed on the opaque glass screens which would of received the images that were projected onto them.  I have changed them from sketchy-arty look, to a simple 3D render look and have not had time to place the images on the opaque screen.  Cross-referencing to my final presentation, hopefully gives a complete clearer picture.

final A1 board

inspired from yasu's lecture in week 4, when he introduced us to a book called
- 'what do people do all day'

- see the A1 board dissected in my next post where I have unravelled the pieces in a sequential   slide presentation hopefully.

Woofordia provides an interactive forum to generate a movement focused toward community growth. A growth to support the physical and non‐physical realm. The design is a petri dish where individuals can share their ideas and collaborate with one another to evolve their idea/s by utilising peoples input and feedback. People can graft their ideas with one another. The informer becomes the informed and vice versa.

The Masterplan for my design concentrates on creating a network on a local level that can be distributed worldwide. The users within the design controls the data and images that are projected throughout the design, however, there is a digital platform that allows anyone to respond to the ideas present. If an idea viewed appeals to the individual or group, the viewer/s has the opportunity to interact with the idea and offer feedback online.

material palette - week 13

The unique geographical location of Woodfordia lies on a path where 4 major vegetation groups cross according to the National Vegetation Information System.

After cross referencing these 4 major vegetation group species with the planting list provided by the Queensland Folk Federation, I have drawn on distinctive characteristics from each group to create a colour/material palette for the design.

project progress - week 13

the entrance from the east is where the main paths lead towards the amphitheatre.  the design hear attempts to capture and draw the user into the main entrance.  from a large open triangle form, the design directs user into the entrance through layering and using a range of different materials.   The materials were influenced by the vertical elements of the natural forest.  The dark stone on which the rammed earth wall sits on top of, symbolizes an eternity for the design. Not necessarily a psychical eternity, but an eternity into which the design will create a system with throughout the community.  The use of stone technology seen in the Egyptian evolution gave their buildings the possibility to last for 1000s of years.

An initial idea to have the main stage roof operable to move up and down according to what activity was taking place on the main platform

the journey in which the user would have the opportunity to experiences.

the lower digram in the bottom left hand corner represents my design summarised in a nut shell - a platform, at least 2 people, a connection through physical and digital means and an interactive system.
